50 Steps To A Consistent Social Media Presence
I don’t know where I’ve been, but I just read a great post called, “50 Steps To Establishing a Consistent Social Media Practice” by Chris Brogan and it got me to do something that I’ve been putting off for a few months now.
First, I just want to say that the post is great and I’d recommend you running over to read it and put it into practice.
Next… here’s what I sat down immediately to do.
Daily Social Media Task List
I got out a pad of paper (legal pads are my preferred choice for jotting down my ideas) and began to make a list. But not just any list. It was my list for what I will do every single day for a consistent social media presence. Included on the list was commenting on blogs everyday, linking back to relevant posts, adding value to twitter by evaluating conversations and offering solutions, links, advice, visit forums and place original posts and replies, drop a note on at least 15 facebook friends walls to encourage, enlighten, or sympathize, and comment on at least 15 friendfeed streams.
That might sound ambitious, and maybe even impossible, but it should only take about an hour but the return will be invaluable.
Social Media is not a gimmick. It’s not a flash in the pan, here today and gone tomorrow concept. It’s here to stay and there are rules. Participation is at the top of that list.
What’s in your list?
Do you have a plan for a broad, wide ranging, effective and profitable social media presence? If not, then I recommend checking out Chris’ post and writing down one.
